Income model

As of 2015, 94% of Aptoide’s revenue came from individual app downloads, followed by its white-label business.

For white-label solutions, revenue is earned on a 50-50 sharing basis.

App providers can run in-store app promotional campaigns on Aptoide and acquire more users on a Consumer Price Index (CPI) basis. Bids start from US$0.20 onwards. For paid apps, Aptoide gets a percentage of app and in-app purchases.

Aptoide helps app providers monetize their products through the Aptoide In-App Billing, which lets clients benefit from localized payment options that help them reach new users in emerging markets.

The startup also provides customization, branding and other fee-paying services to its clients.

User acquisition

Aptoide does not spend on user acquisition. By offering apps not found on Google Play, and not requiring user registration, it attracts its own following, especially savvy users who track blogs and communities seeking recommendations. Aptoide is also safe, as it has in place both an automated process to keep out malware and viruses, and a strong community to flag unsuitable or offending apps.

Through its partnership with the Canaima Educativo program in Venezuela, Aptoide is available on 2 million tablets distributed by the government for education. Aptoide runs a similar partnership in India, and plans to continue using this model to increase its user base.
