CCO and co-founder of Plant on Demand
Alejandro Wonenburger García came up with the idea for Plant on Demand (POD) during a research project for his joint master’s degree studies in Finland and the Netherlands.He specialized in International Business at SeAMK (Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences) in western Finland from 2013–17. He was based in the Netherlands during 2015–16 to read Strategic Management and International Business Management at Fontys Venlo University of Applied Sciences in Limburg. He speaks six European languages including Dutch.Since 2018, the Spanish co-founder of POD has taken on the roles of project coordinator and chief commercial officer. The POD agrifood marketplace and online management platform is specially designed for the needs of small-scale farmers.

Finnish native Pia Henrietta Moon, has been a scout leader since 2003. Her first job was in event management and tourism operations in India for Sunset Getaways & Insta tourism in 2007. While studying at the University of Economics and Business in Vienna, she met American engineer Christopher Carstens in 2013 at a global solutions innovation program organized by Singularity University in California. She left university in 2014 and co-founded Carbo Culture as CEO in 2016 with Carstens as CTO.In 2016, Moon also joined the electronics company Yleiselektroniikka as a board member, the youngest person in Finland to hold such a position in a listed company. Moon also founded edtech startup Mehackit in 2013 and became its chairwoman for four years. She exited both companies in 2018 to focus on running Carbo Culture.While at university, Moon also worked for over two years at Rails Girls, a not-for-profit for women in tech. In Finland, she joined the student entrepreneurship society in 2011 and completed an internship in 2010 at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. In 2015, she joined the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers youth community initiative in Helsinki.

Ali Harlin completed two doctorates in chemical engineering and in polymer science in 1995 and 1996 respectively. He spent 11 years developing the Borstar technology related to bimodal PE and PP. He has also worked as a research director for packaging materials and cable machinery. He currently works as a research professor and lecturer at two local universities in Finland. In 2003, he joined Tampere University of Technology as a professor for fiber materials and technical textiles. In 2014, he also started lecturing at LUT University as a professor specializing in packaging and polymeric materials.Since 2005, the industrial biomaterial specialist has also been working at the Technical Research Centre of Finland VTT where he became the product R&D team leader for Infinited Fiber, a startup he co-founded in 2016 with CEO Petri Alava.

Guillermo Lamelas Nogueira is a telecommunications engineer who is the co-founder of Alén Space and of which he has been CEO since 2018. Ulises Vidal Sanz graduated in 2016 with a bachelor’s in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Granada in Spain. In 2015, he also spent a year studying in Finland at Tampere University of Technology. On his return, Vidal completed a master’s in Data Science at MBIT School in Madrid in 2018.He worked as a data scientist at online marketing agency OrbitalAds. In 2018, he co-founded Plant on Demand (POD) with university friends. In 2019, he started working full-time as a data scientist and full-stack developer at POD to help small-scale farmers get the best market prices by selling their produce directly to local residents.

In 1989, he completed a master’s in industrial engineering and started his management career at Finncont Oy, a subsidiary of GWS Group. He went on to work at Rocla Oy in 2001 as managing director of the Rocla Robotruck Group with manufacturing units in Finland and Sweden. He also held senior management roles at Vapo Oy and Kekkilä Oy.In 2015, he became the managing partner of Profon Oy and also co-founded cleantech materials startup Infinited Fiber as CEO. Based in Helsinki, he is also currently chairman of various companies, as well as the CEO of Solid Environmental Technologies.
