PME Investimentos was founded in 1989 as a joint stock company called SULPEDIP (Sociedade para o Desenvolvimento Industrial SA). The state-run financial society, under the supervision of the Bank of Portugal, changed its name to PME in 1998. Its main aim is to help local SMES to access funding and financial management services to develop and expand internationally.
