Another “haigui” (Chinese overseas returnee), Ben Luk (or Lu Yunsheng) had worked at Microsoft and Oracle before joining Google in 2003. At Google, he held different positions in the US global headquarters, and the Beijing and HK offices. Luk led the development of Google Maps APAC. He holds a BS in Computer Science, Cornell University; and an MS in Computer Engineering, Stanford University. 

Bonsai VC invests in Spanish startups with global ambitions and mobile-focused business models. The founders and managers, including Javier Cebrián Monereo, Javier Cebrián Sagarriga, Luis González Buendía and Rafael Gutierrez de Calderón; own approximately 60% of the VC share capital.

Yangtze Delta Region Research Institute of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang was co-founded by the provincial government of Zhejiang and Tsinghua University in 2003 for tech transfer. It has set up over 50 R&D platforms in the areas of life sciences, digital creativity, information technology and ecological environment and 11 offshore incubators in the US, UK, Germany and Australia. The institute manages over RMB 7.5bn of assets and also makes investments through its sub-funds with a total size of more than RMB 10bn. So far, it has incubated and invested in over 2,500 companies, 35 of whom have gone public or been acquired by listed companies.

Backed by Israeli-Russian billionaire Yuri Milner, Apoletto Asia is managed by Russia’s DST Global, a VC firm that funds late-stage internet startups.

Zhou Zhiheng worked for Michael Antonio Footwear Group as general manager in China. In 2016, Zhou met fellow co-founders Antonio Lin and Qiu Chen at a training program held in Silicon Valley, organized by the global entrepreneur incubator Blackbox. He left his GM job and co-founded 4D ShoeTech in 2017.

Giovanni Umboh has been a software engineer since 2014, specializing in Java, working first at software development company Indocyber Global Technology and then at Emerio, a subsidiary of Japanese telecommunications giant NTT. Giovanni left Emerio in 2017 to join equity crowdfunding startup Bizhare, where he is CTO. He is also concurrently a software engineer at Blanja.com. Giovanni holds a diploma in Informatics Management from Bina Sarana Informatika, Indonesia.

Rodríguez is the CEO of Odilo, the first digital content-as-a-service (CaaS) edtech platform that he founded in 2011 whilst still working for BT Global Services in Madrid. The native of Cartagena, Murcia, also completed an internship in business development at Spain's Telefonica before spending five and a half years at BT. Rodríguez holds a master's in Science and Telecommunications Engineering from Madrid's Alfonso X El Sabio University.

Velos Partners brands itself as a Consumer Growth Capital Fund investing in companies at the intersection of consumer and technology. Based in Los Angeles, USA, its global portfolio includes women focused e-commerce site Orami, wearable tech firm Doppler Labs and property listing site 99.co.

Ben Soebiakto first became an entrepreneur in 2005 by founding the Octovate Group, a tech incubator for the creative industry. A graduate in Visual Communications from Universitas Trisakti in Indonesia, he also co-founded XM Gravity that later became part of the global advertising company WPP. Ben also founded a multichannel women content media Fimela and was also the CMO of KapanLagi Network, one of Indonesia’s major online content producers. He joined Muslimarket in February 2016.

Muhammad Risyad Ganis joined agriculture crowd investment platform Crowde as a co-founder and is currently the company’s CFO. He was previously with the Jakarta office of Willis Towers Watson, a global financial advisory company. Risyad graduated from the University of Melbourne, Australia in 2014 with a bachelor’s in Economics, Politics and International Studies.Ganis left Crowde in 2018. He is currently the COO and co-founder of data consultancy firm Celerates.

Argentinian native Nicolas Araujo Müller is co-CEO and co-founder at Psquared, Spain’s first flexible workplace management and design company for hybrid workspaces. He has worked there since its foundation in April 2018, originally as part of startup hub CoBuilder, and is now its CFO.  He is also a part-time advisor and investor at startup development agency We Are Grit, since its launch in 2020.Earlier, Araujo was CFO and co-founder at digital talent agency Bandit, for two years, until 2017. Before that, he held the same roles at his previous Barcelona-based startup, Nubelo, another tech recruitment agency for freelancers, between 2012 and 2016, when it was acquired by Freelancer.com.  In 2016, Araujo was a visiting professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona on digital economy.His first startup was Work At Home in Argentina, where he was a co-founder for two years from 2011–13, for which he won local innovation prizes. Prior to this, Araujo held various management consultancy roles, working in business analysis and research at Ernst & Young, Standard & Poor’s and Accenture, from 2008–2012, and completed a stint at the US embassy in Buenos Aires. He is also a founding member of Argentina’s entrepreneur organization, ASEA, established in 2013. Araujo holds a degree in economics from CEMA University, Buenos Aires and a qualification from Harvard University in negotiation. In 2017 and 2013, Araujo was named in Forbes Argentina’s 30 Promesas list of young entrepreneurs. 

Daniel Surya has almost 20 years of experience in the branding industry, having worked at agencies like Addison, Landor Associates and The Brand Union. He started AR&Co in 2009. The augmented reality branding startup was later renamed Slingshot.Daniel decided to invest in more ventures including DAV Global under the banner of the WIR Group. He is currently the CEO of WIR and the chairman of the Slingshot group that launched Mindstores.

Co-Founder and Lead Designer of PesanLab since July 2014, Thomas Khogeen has studied graphic design at the Faculty of Art and Design at the Multimedia Nusantara University. He won third place for the Young Professional: Digital category at the Illufest in May 2014. He had worked as a recording engineer and graphic designer, before joining his friends to set up PesanLab, previously known as LabConX.

David Mayoral Vilches is the CEO and co-founder of Alias Robotics that is based in the Basque Country, Spain. He is an entrepreneur with experience in robotics. He was previously the co-founder, CEO and president of Erle Robotics until its sale to Swiss medtech Acutronic Robotics that is now run by his brother, Victor. He studied Entrepreneurship and Innovation at IE Business School in Madrid, where he was named Young Entrepreneur Spain in 2016.
