Tuomas Knowles is co-founder of Britain’s Xampla, producer of plant-based biodegradable plastics made from protein, which was founded in 2018 based on his team’s pioneering research.  Knowles is a professor of physical chemistry and biophysics at Cambridge University, where he has worked since 2010 and manages the Knowles Lab which focuses on researching protein self-assembly underlying neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Knowles holds a PhD in Biophysics from the University of Cambridge and a degree in physics from ETH Zurich, a science and technology university. 

Krijn De Nood is the Dutch co-founder and CEO at cell-based meat startup Meatable, the first to claim a highly scalable culture technology with the use of pluripotent stem cells, where he has worked since 2018. He previously worked at McKinsey for six-and-a-half years in Amsterdam, New York and in Kenya. Prior to that, he worked as an equity derivatives trader at derivative trading company All Options after a short stint at Barclays Capital.De Nood holds two first degrees from the University of Amsterdam, in philosophy and in economics and finance. 

Kévin Alessandri is CEO, CTO and co-founder of TreeFrog Therapeutics, whose proprietory C-Stem technology mass-produces high-quality pluripotent stem cells in a 3D environment. Prior to founding TreeFrog in 2018, Alessandri spent two years as a post-doctoral fellow at Bordeaux’s Institut d’Optique. During 2014 and 2015, he completed a post-doctorate at the University of Geneva, focused on developing 3D printed microfluidics systems to build 3D cell culture vessels for stem cell applications. From 2008 to 2013 he completed a PhD on cellular capsules technology and applications at the Institut Curie in Paris. 

Jean-Luc Treillou is co-founder of TreeFrog Therapeutics, whose proprietory C-Stem technology mass-produces high-quality pluripotent stem cells in a 3D environment. Since January 2019, he has also acted as an advisor and member of the strategic committee of IT security company Eshard. Prior to co-founding TreeFrog, Treillou founded YSOPIA Bioscience in 2011, where he was CEO until he left in 2021, and Chairman of the Board from 2018. Between 2009 and 2013 he held the posts of General Manager and Chairman of the Board at French R&D company Nutrionix.

CTO and co-founder of Squirrel AI, Fan Xing obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi’an, China, between 1999 and 2006. After graduating, he worked at several Internet companies as a software engineer and architect. He was CTO and R&D Director of IMO Cloud Office from 2012–2015, a senior researcher and platform technology manager at ShanDa Interactive Entertainment from 2010–2012, a server manager at 51.com from 2008–2010 and a senior engineer at Tencent from 2006–2008. He joined Squirrel AI in 2015.

Serial entrepreneur Jason Lamuda has a bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from Purdue University, USA. He obtained a master’s in 2008 in Financial Engineering from Columbia University. Married to another Berrybenka co-founder, Jason is currently the CEO and driving force of Berrybenka.Jason worked at McKinsey in Jakarta for two years before quitting to pursue his dream of becoming an entrepreneur in 2010. Jason and a university friend Ferry Tenka co-founded Disdus, which later became known as Groupon Indonesia. Both of them also co-founded Bilna which was merged with another e-commerce company to become Orami that also caters to women.

Gerald Ariff, a co-founder of PT Haruka Evolusi Digital Utama since 2013, recently became the company’s Chief Partnership Officer in November 2016. After spending much of his life in the United Kingdom since 1987, the University of London electronics engineer headed home to Jakarta to work as a research associate in 2001. Gerald later earned a doctorate in Strategic Management at the University of Indonesia in 2007, before joining the Universitas Bina Nusantara Business School (Binus) as a program head in 2011. He still lectures at Binus and the London School of Public Relations in Jakarta.

Tovan Krisdianto started his career as an auditor at KPMG Indonesia before moving on to work at Schlumberger. After graduating in 2003 from the Prasetiya Mulya Business School with a master’s in Management, he worked as a CFO at PT Trouw Nutrition Indonesia (Nutreco) and also at Coda Payments. He co-founded an online education services provider HarukaEdu in February 2013. He is the CFO of PT Haruka Edukasi Utama. He also runs his own business as the founder of TTT Coaching and Consulting. He had also worked as an associate lecturer at Binus Business School in 2014.

Ferry Tenka was the brains behind Indonesian online childcare products marketplace Bilna that later merged with Thai e-commerce giant Moxy to form Orami. He is currently Orami’s executive chairman and also heads its Indonesian operations as CEO of Bilna Indonesia.He briefly worked at SanDisk as a systems design engineer before setting up daily deals website Disdus.com that later became Groupon Indonesia. He was Groupon Indonesia’s CEO before he left in 2012 to start Bilna. Ferry read a degree in Electrical Engineering at Purdue University, USA, where he met up with Jason Lamuda, a co-founder of Disdus.com, Bilna and Berrybenka.

International relations graduate, John Patrick Ellis worked in East Indonesia for two years with ViA-Volunteers Asia in 2005. He has picked up some Manggarai dialect along the way and also speaks Indonesian.  In 2011, John created Harpoon Mobile, a maptech software that was later sold to a North American online marketing company in 2013. He went on to co-found C88 Financial Technologies Pte Ltd in Singapore  that acquired CekAja and Otobro in Indonesia. John became the Group CEO of C88. The group’s other co-founder and chairman Karl Knoflach is based in the Philippines.

Patrick Williamson was the co-founder, CEO and director of Otobro Media Pte Ltd.  The car dealership platform Otobro was sold to the C88 Group in March 2017. He is now an executive at SEA Online & TMT, an online media company in Singapore.A graduate in Applied Science Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada, Patrick also pursued a master’s in International Business at INSEAD in 2002. He has worked in Singapore at Yahoo! Southeast Asia and also at Unity Technologies. In 2013, he was in Jakarta with PT Kreatif Media Karya before founding Otobro in 2015.

Mathew F Jones joined Otobro Pte Ltd in 2016 as co-founder and COO. Otobro was acquired by the C88 Group in March 2017. Mathew is also the commissioner  of PT Superior Coach, a representative office in Jakarta. Mathew has worked in Indonesia for over 11 years. He joined PT Selaras Nusa Abadi as general manager in 2003 and became the managing director and Dealer Council chairman of the company from 2005 until 2015.  He has a bachelor’s in Political Economy of Industrial Societies from the University of California Berkeley, USA.

Former journalist Miguel Leite had founded two businesses, Punch and FullFlex Interactive Media, before establishing Tradiio in 2014. The ex-label manager of Universal Music Portugal saw first-hand the challenges faced by emerging artists to make a living from their music. The music platform Tradiio aims to help artists sell their music directly to consumers via paid music downloads.Leite has a master’s in Business Communication from Barcelona's Pompeu Fabra University. He is the founder of blockchain and cryptocurrency research project Coinvision, in addition to co-founding BetProtocol as CMO of the blockchain-powered platform for betting sites.

With over a decade of consultancy experience, Alvaro Gomez Nogueiras is a visiting professor at several universities, including Porto Business School and Lisbon School of Economics and Management. He has a computer engineering degree and a master’s in Consultancy and Information Systems Implementation from the University of Deusto in Spain.He worked as a logistics consultant before co-founding business consultancy EBS in the African country of Angola. He returned to Portugal in 2001 and worked as a project manager for over eight years. He was also a director at Strategos until 2014. Gomez was the CEO and co-founder of Tradiio until April 2019.

Irma Hidayana, one of the initiators of Indonesia Cicak anti-corruption movement, is reading a doctorate at the Teachers’ College in Columbia University. She graduated from Gadjah Mada University and has a master’s in Public Health from Montclair State University. Irma started her career as an intern consultant at UNICEF and has been a consultant for the baby food industry and IYCF in UNICEF since 2014. She has worked as an ICT consultant to expand maternal and neonatal survival projects in six Indonesian provinces since 2012. Irma was also a co-founder of the Indonesian Breastfeeding Counsellor Association IKMI.
