After graduating from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro with a degree in Computer Science, Maulana Bayu Samudra worked as a web designer for Seven Media Technology from 2015 to 2018. Together with former colleague Fadhil Nur Mahardi and food entrepreneur Kaesang Pangarep, he established Indonesian home chef meal service Madhang in late 2017, serving as its first CEO. Maulana later took on the COO role in January 2019.

Takeout delivery app Daojia partners mid- to top-end restaurants to ensure its customers, mostly middle-class families, get safe, high-quality food.

Gianpaolo Rando is CTO and co-founder at Swiss biotech SwissDeCode, which applies DNA testing to food traceability. He has worked there full-time since April 2016. Prior to this, Rando gained significant experience working in the field of genomics. He spent three years prior to SwissDeCode’s foundation trialing his DNA food testing technology in his startup BeerDeCoded and assisted in the launch of a compact DNA laboratory at Bento Bio in London. He previously spent almost three years at the University of Geneva in research, co-inventing a technology for ink to change color in response to a specific DNA sequence. His earlier position at the University of Lausanne as a post-doctoral fellow in genomics saw him lead a nine-man team for three and a half years, discovering the hormone that prepares newborns to lactate. Rando’s first post was at Trangenic Operative Products, leading animal research there. Italian-born Rando holds a PhD in biotechnology and pharmacology from the University of Milan as well as a qualification in data science. 

Founded in September 2019 by Patrick Morris, Eat Beyond went public on the Canadian Securities Exchange in November 2020. The company’s shares are also traded on the Frankfurt Exchange in Germany and OTC Markets in the US. Morris had worked in capital markets for over 15 years and wanted to find a solution to help retail investors access the emerging markets of alt-proteins and other future food sectors.First of its kind in Canada, the Eat Beyond Global Investment Fund focuses on four key areas: meat, seafood, eggs, and dairy. It also participates in cell agriculture and other experimental projects. Current investments include foodtechs and alt-food source companies working on plant-based proteins, fermented proteins, cultured proteins, agriculture and consumer packaged goods.

Founded in 2013 in Singapore, VVNP is a future-food solutions-orientated investor with a special interest in science-based companies that have the ability to scale global solutions, especially within Asia. It invests from seed stage to Series C level. Typical investments range from $300,000 to $3m and the investor has launched two funds to date. The first raised $40m and invested in seven companies globally, while the second was created in 2020, targeting $150m in total investment.The VC’s most recent investments include a €271,000 pre-seed investment round in Dutch poultry animal welfare biotech In Ovo in March 2021, and leading the as-yet-uncompleted 6m Swiss franc (approximately $6.56m) seed round in Swiss biotech SwissDeCode in January 2021 – a company that applies DNA testing to food traceability.  

Wang Lai was Meituan Dianping's 33rd employee, working as a product manager for its group buying, hotel and food delivery business. He co-founded Waterdrop in 2016 and left a year later. He then worked for Yuanfudao, an online education unicorn, before founding Xiaobohu, an online children calligraphy educational startup, in 2019. 

Harvard graduate Johannes Ardiant earned his bachelor’s degree in Computing from the National University of Singapore. He also pursued a Master’s in Public Policy at Harvard. In 2015 he became the co-founder and COO of healthcare services platform Konsula, which pivoted into health food startup Lemonilo in 2017. Currently, he heads Lemonilo’s product, engineering, data, design and operations.

Founded in 2010, Hosen Capital is a PE firm under the New Hope Group. With RMB 5 billion under management, Hosen Capital focuses on the consumption upgrading and industrial upgrading of the agricultural and food sectors. Its investors include New Hope Group, West Hope Group, Delong Steel, Temasek Holdings, ADM and Mitsui & Co.

Founded in 2009, Septwolves Venture Capital is a subsidiary of Septwolves Holding Group Co Ltd. The VC firm currently manages assets worth RMB 1bn.Focusing on investment opportunities in the communications and other traditional industries like logistics, Septwolves also invests in diverse sectors including mobile internet, energy, food, pharmaceutical, textile and software.

The GlassWall Syndicate is a US investment group comprising venture capitalists, foundations, trusts, non-profits and individual investors. The VC members include Blue Horizon, Veg Invest and New Crop Capital.The syndicate funds are mostly invested in foodtech companies like Mosa Meat and Beyond Meat that are currently disrupting the traditional global food industry.

Cambridge and Stanford graduate Adrian Li was born in London to parents from Hong Kong and Malaysia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Cambridge University and an MBA from Stanford University. He is currently a board member of dating startup Paktor, media company MBDC, female online community Female Daily Network, technology development company Imaginato and food social network startup Qraved. He is also the founding and managing partner of venture capital firm Convergence Ventures.

After graduating in Mechanical Engineering at Universitas Indonesia, Rendria Labde worked for oil and gas firm JGC Indonesia for two years. He left in 2015 to establish PT Magale Sayana Indonesia, a property development company with a unique focus on environmental sustainability.  The company completed an eco-living residential complex Sandar Andara and started a new project Magalarva to use insect larvae to process food waste into agricultural products. Rendria became the CEO of Magalarva.

Kinara is a venture capital fund based in Indonesia. Established in 2011, it focuses on impact investments that include supporting inclusive economy initiatives and eco-friendly ventures such as Greeneration. Kinara has been managing Indonesia’s first business impact acceleration program that has produced 11 enterprises in the food security sector since 2016. Other priority sectors are microfinance, clean tech, agriculture and fisheries.

AddVenture is a Russian VC fund investing internationally. The firm has US$120m under management, participating in funding rounds with an investment range between US$1m and US$10m. The firm’s portfolio comprises 23 investments and five exits.AddVenture's investment criteria focus on local services, marketplaces, SaaS, food-tech and health-tech startups.

Willy Haryanto has a degree in Computer Science from Purdue University, USA and a master’s in Information Technology from the University of Melbourne, Australia. He acquired computer programming and software development skills as a manager for telecommunications company Indosmart between 2006 and 2009.After his master’s, he co-founded food delivery website Klik-Eat with fellow Purdue graduate Michael Saputra. They sold the company and went on to establish meal subscription startup BlackGarlic, where he serves as CTO.
