Brad Bao (Bao Zhoujia) graduated in International Marketing at Wuhan University in 1997 and obtained an MBA from UC Berkeley in 2005. He worked in marketing at FORMICA from January 1997 to March 1998 and went on to work at Kodak until April 2000. He was at IBM until April 2001 when he finally decided to become an entrepreneur and co-founded NORICT in Beijing.He was also the GM and VP of the US branch for Tencent from 2005–2012. He joined Kinzon Capital as managing partner in September 2013 and co-founded LimeBike in the US in November 2016.

Toro Ventures is a VC fund based in Monterrey, Mexico, with offices in San Francisco. Led by entrepreneurs Elsa Treviño and Tuto Assad, the fund helps tech startups raise seed capital as well as build a network of family offices and business angels interested in investment opportunities in the Latin American tech ecosystem.Toro Ventures also supports big companies looking to innovate by connecting them with startups from relevant industry verticals. In December 2018, it made its biggest investment to date: €2 million in Spain's BEWE. Established in December 2016, the company has invested in nine startups, to date. 

GF Qianhe is an equity investment company launched by GF Securities in May 2012. Incorporated as Guangfa Qianhe Investments Co Ltd, with a registered capital of RMB 500m, the company was one of the earliest alternative investment companies to gain approval from the Securities Commission of China. As of late 2018, GF Qianhe has invested in 86 equity-related projects, among which four have gone public. By the end of 2014, its total investment value reached almost RMB 2bn and revenues of over RMB 340m.

François Derbaix is a serial entrepreneur and angel investor. In 1997, he began his career in business as a consultant for The Boston Consulting Group. He moved quickly into entrepreneurship. In 2000, he founded Toprural, a rural tourism platform that operates in 10 countries and earned €5m in 2009. In 2012, Toprural was acquired by HomeAway.He also co-founded Rentalia (acquired by Idealista in 2012), Indexa Capital, Bewa7er, Soysuper and Aplazame.Since leaving entrepreneurship, Derbaix has dedicated his time to supporting new internet projects as an angel investor in Spanish tech startups such as Kantox and Deporvillage.

Fondazione Marche, founded in 2009, is a private, non-profit business promotion organization that operates exclusively in the Italian territory of the Marche Region in central-eastern Italy. It is based in the regional capital Ancona. The organization was established by local business leaders in association with banks Banca Popolare di Ancona and BPU, who funded the company with €15m.  It invests across sectors and technologies, with both tech and non-tech startups supported. Its most recent investment to date was in Italo-Spanish insect protein flour manufacturer Nutrinsect, with a €350,000 pre-seed investment in May 2020. 

Paul Allen was an American business magnate and investor. Best known as Microsoft Corporation co-founder with his childhood friend Bill Gates, he left the company after eight years after being diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease. Allen died in 2018 at the age of 65, with a net worth of $20.3bn.His multibillion-dollar investment arm Vulcan Capital has backed tech startups around the world, including Spotify, Alibaba Group and Flipkart. Allen also owned the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers, the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and has a stake in the Seattle Sounders soccer team. He also donated over $2bn to philanthropic initiatives.

Evolution Media China (EMC) was founded in Beijing by Evolution Media Partners, the investment arm of American talent and sports agency Creative Artists Agency and Evolution Media Capital, in early 2016. EMC currently manages a total of US$350 million in assets. The firm invests primary in startups with potential from the Asia-Pacific region, with a focus on China, in sectors such as media, entertainment, sports, advertising and lifestyle.

Infortisa is a Valencia-based IT company considered to be one of Spain's top tech companies. Infortisa is leader in computer distribution, with over 30 years' experience offering technological solutions in the B2B sector. Since 2016, it has been active in Juan Roig’s Marina de Empresa (EDEM) Smart Money program in Valencia and is committed to investing in highly innovative startups with the aim of accelerating and promoting Spanish innovation and entrepreneurship, and to becoming a reference investor in the national tech ecosystem.In 2017, it had invested more than €90m in capital.

Charles Songhurst is a founding partner of hedge fund Katana Capital and also runs the Songhurst Group, which holds assets in a variety of private companies, besides being a prolific angel investor having invested in more than 500 companies to date across sectors and geographies.  His most recent investments have included in the 2021 seed rounds of home-based eye medtech Quadrant Eye and in the $2m funding of Canadian small business logistics startup Tyltgo. Songhurst is a former general manager and former head of corporate strategy at Microsoft. He has a bachelor's in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University.

ACA Investments is the Singapore-based affiliate of Asia Capital Alliance, a Japanese investment firm group. The group’s investment focus is on Japan and Southeast Asia, done by combining Japanese intellectual property and Southeast Asia’s growing markets and startup ecosystems. Its investments range from secondhand bookstore Book-Off, F&B brand owner HotLand Corporation (which operates Tsujiki Gindako), and Southeast Asian price comparison site iPrice.ACA Investments is also an affiliate of Japanese investment bank Daiwa Securities Group, which is Japan’s second-largest securities brokerage. In 2018, ACA Group announced that Daiwa Securities Group acquired a 34% stake in ACA Investments as part of a wider strategic alliance between ACA and Daiwa.

The International Financial Corporation (IFC) was founded in 1956 and is a member of the World Bank Group. It is one of the world’s largest development institutions focusing on the private sector in developing countries. It operates in more than 100 countries and has leveraged US$2.6 billion in capital from the private investment sector to deliver more than US$265 billion in financing for businesses.

Endeavor Catalyst is part of the global investment company Endeavor. Launched in 2012 and based in New York, it supports the equity funding efforts of Endeavour entrepreneurs with third party investors. Its portfolio investments had a total capital value of over US$100 million and it specializes in mid-stage investments across sectors and different countries, with significant investment in transportation startups to date. In 2020, it participated in the second €12m part of the €23m Series A round of EV charging hardware startup, Wallbox, with an undisclosed investment. Other recent investments in 2020 include in the US$40m Series D round of Egyptian healthtech Vezeeta and in the undisclosed seed round of Turkish fintech Figopara.

The European Investment Bank is a pan-European investor based in Luxembourg, and the only bank owned by European Union member states. Founded in 1958, the banks has invested in thousands of businesses and public and private infrastructure projects. It is the largest multilateral borrower and lender by volume and also now has an SME tech focus, with recipients needing to have sustainable business model and, usually, a European focus. In December 2020, the EIB launched a new €150m co-investment fund to support startups leveraging AI across Europe to address what it called “the multibillion-euro funding gap compared with the United States and China.” Its most recent investments include a €20m investment in the €32m Series C round of Portuguese international online print store 360imprimir (BIZAY) and its first spacetech investment, €20m in venture debt investment to Luxembourg-based Spire Global that is building a satellite constellation, both in December 2020.In 4Q 2020, it also invested €10m in Spanish industrial IoT startup Worldsensing, €15m in German identity verification platform IDnow and €15 in German sportstech platform KINEXON.

Founded in 1999 in Santiago de Compostela, XesGalicia SGEIC SA is 100% owned by the Galician Institute for Economic Promotion (Igape). The VC supports Spanish startups through seed funding, early ventures and growth capital investments. It usually invests between €60,000 and €200,000 in each enterprise, with temporary acquisition of minority stakes. The firm focuses on the biotech, telecommunications, energy and environment sectors. In 2014, it was involved in the creation of the Galician Network of Business Angels to facilitate the collaboration of private and public fund investors to nurture innovative projects and applications of new technologies.

Based in Brussels, Astanor Ventures is an impact investor specializing in foodtech, agritech and blue ocean economy with focus on the environment and sustainability. Founded in 2017 by Eric Archambeau and George Coelho, Astanor has invested in more than 20 startups in Europe and the US. Archambeau and Coelho launched Balderton Capital in Europe and were early investors in Spotify, Betfair and LoveFilm.Astanor invests according to the principles for responsible investment (PRI), prioritizing technology-led solutions that connect the value chain, innovate on nutrition and accelerate regenerative agriculture. In November 2020, the firm closed fundraising for its $325m Global Impact Fund focused on food and agriculture technology that comply with the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs).
