Qingdao Haier Venture Capital is the investment arm of China-based electronics manufacturer Haier Group. The Haier SAIF fund was established in September 2014, in partnership with private equity firm SAIF Partners and other investors. The RMB 320m investment fund is managed by SAIF Partners. The fund mainly invests smart home product developers and related sectors like AI, IoT and big data. As of December 2017, it has invested in 16 startups.

Singapore-based VC Jungle Ventures set up its SeedPlus fund in 2016. The SGD 25m fund is backed by a diverse range of investors including Eight Roads, Infocomm Investments, Accel Partners, RNT Associates, SGInnovate and Cisco. A fund run by Jungle Ventures partner and Indian tycoon Ratan Tata has also contributed to SeedPlus.Early-stage investments of SGD 0.5–1m are available for startups in Southeast Asia. The fund also provides hands-on expertise and support services, including resources from partners like Google SEA and PwC Singapore.

Global Founders Capital is a global venture fund that invests in seed and Series A, or participates in later rounds. It typically does not invest in pre-launch. The venture fund was set up in 2013 by Rocket Internet chief Oliver Samwer, his brother Marc, and former Delivery Hero co-CEO Fabian Siegel as a €150 million fund for high-potential internet businesses. 

Founded in Sydney in 2004, Artesian Capital Management (Australia) Pty Ltd is a global alternative investment management firm specialized in public and private debt, venture capital and impact investment strategies. The VC was a spin-off from ANZ Banking Group’s capital markets business, backed by ANZ Private Equity. Artesian’s founding partners Jeremy Colless, Matthew Clunies-Ross and John McCartney bought ANZ’s stake in 2005.Today, Artesian has international offices in New York, London, Singapore, Jakarta and Shanghai. Its China VC Fund was launched in 2017 and the firm also has plans for a Southeast Asia VC Fund. The alternative investment firm currently manages multiple funds including Australian VC Fund 2, High Impact Green Debt Fund, GrainInnovate and Women Economic Empowerment Fund.

Pathena is a Porto-based venture capital firm founded in 2010 and focuses on IT investments, particularly medtech. Pathena closed its first portfolio fund in 2011, having invested in 10 companies and it launched its current portfolio fund in 2013 worth €56 million.

Shanghai Guohe Capital was set up in 2009 by Shanghai International Group, a state-owned financial institution. It is China’s first private fund management company to obtain the qualification of private equity fund manager. The firm currently runs multiple funds with assets worth over RMB 10bn. 

Founded in 2004, Polaris Capital Group is a Japanese private equity fund management firm. Since its inception, Polaris has invested in about 30 Japanese companies. It completed the fourth round of fundraising for its Polaris Private Equity Fund IV in April 2017, during which it raised JPY 75 billion. The new fund will invest in Japanese companies in the manufacturing sector with globally competitive technologies/patents as well as companies with strong brands or unique business models in the consumer goods, retail and logistics sectors.

Green Angel Syndicate (GSA) is an angel investment syndicate fund headquartered in the UK and joined by over 250 members. GSA’s investments are mostly focused on technologies that can tackle climate change and global warming issues. As of December 2020, the firm has, directly and indirectly, contributed to saving more than 20,000 tones of CO2 and increased its emissions savings by 88% throughout the year.The fund has invested over £10m in startups in their early-stage and operating across 10 different sectors. GSA is also behind the EIS Climate Change Fund, a co-investment fund in deals managed by GSA. In 2019, GSA was recognized as the UK Business Angels Association Angel Syndicate of the Year. 

Founded by the charismatic Japanese billionaire Masayoshi Son, SoftBank Group Corp is a multinational conglomerate with assets totaling about $342bn in 2020. SoftBank is best known in Japan for its mobile phone network and distribution business, and it was the sole distributor of the Apple iPhone in Japan until 2011. SoftBank also has subsidiaries in online gaming, publishing, and energy, and owns stakes in Alibaba Group and Sprint.Outside of Japan, SoftBank is known for its venture capital investments. In October 2016, it teamed up with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund to lead a $100bn tech fund, named Vision Fund. Through Vision Fund, SoftBank has made some major high-profile investments into tech companies, such as TikTok developer ByteDance, e-commerce platforms like Coupang, Tokopedia and Flipkart, and coworking operator WeWork.

Founded over 110 years ago from several small agricultural cooperative banks, the Dutch commercial banking group Rabobank has over 10m customers across 47 countries. The banking group’s Rabo Investments vehicle manages Rabo Ventures with a €120m fund investing globally in early-stage fintech and agtech startups. There is also a €30m fund-of-funds to partner with leading VCs in other funding rounds like the $12m funding round of Dutch e-scooter company GO Sharing.The Rabobank Food & Agri Innovation Fund specializes in supporting enterprises involved in creating sustainable solutions for diverse food and agricultural sectors including livestock farms. Rabo F&A Innovation Fund currently has 11 agri-foodtech startups in its portfolio, including participation in a $12m Series A round of Vence, US-based virtual fencing tech company for livestock management.

ANGIN (Angel Investment Network Indonesia) is the first and largest network of angel investors in Indonesia. The funding and mentoring network comprises high net-worth individuals from diverse industry sectors, including venture capitalists, senior executives and celebrities. ANGIN also manages its own impact investment fund and a fund for women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship.

Founding partner of China Bridge Capital, Zeng Qiang used to be nominated the Most Influential Chinese IT Leader by TIME in 1998. He founded Sparkice, one of the first B2B e-commerce platforms in China, in 1996. He co-founded LeTV CBC Buyout Fund, Wumei CBC Buyout Fund, iCarbonX CBC Buyout Fund, E-China Alliance, and Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum. Zeng Qiang received his Master of Economic Management in Tsinghua University and Master of Financial Economics in The University of Toronto. He also serves as the guest professor at the Business School of Tsinghua.

Founded in 2008, Newfund Capital is a Paris-based VC firm investing in pre-seed, seed and follow-up rounds with fundings between $300,000 and $2m in startups based in Europe and North America. To date, it has $260m worth of assets under management, mostly subscribed by entrepreneurs and family offices. The firm has also started a NAEH fund of $100,000 in the Nouvelle Aquitaine region. Newfund Capital describes the NAEH fund as a risky mutual fund that will take minority stakes in unlisted companies.

They focus on seed, early and mid-stage companies in the mobile, consumer internet, software and services sectors. They are behind the A-Fund, which is the world’s first Android-focused VC fund.

Beenext is a new venture fund started by Beenos founder and former CEO Teruhide “Teru” Sato. The fund describes itself as a “partnership of the founders, by the founders, for the founders”; bringing their wealth of global experience and capital backing to support promising entrepreneurs. Beenext has invested in nine countries, including India, Singapore and Indonesia.
