Founded by Zhang Guiping, brother of Suning Commerce Group Chairman Zhang Jindong. The Zhang brothers co-founded Suning in 1987 and divided the business in 1999 into Suning Universal, listed as one of the top 20 real estate companies in China, and Suning Commerce, one of the largest appliance retailers in China. The investment conducted by Suning Universal in China mainly focuses on culture and entertainment industry. Suning Universal is expanding to the US, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, Australia, France and South Korea, seeking investment opportunities in real estate, entertainment, healthcare, and culture industries.

RakSul is a Japanese online and outsourcing commercial printing services platform, with almost US$72 million in total equity funding in August 2016. Its US$350,000 Prinzio seed investment is its first venture outside Japan, giving it a 20% stake in the Indonesian printing startup.Founder and CEO Yasukane Matsumoto is set to acquire more printing start-ups in the Philippines and Singapore as part of the expansion into Southeast Asia. The Tokyo-based startup is often dubbed the Uber of printing, with flyers accounting for 60% of total print orders. It expected to start making profits in 2016.

Vynn Capital LP was founded in early 2018 by former Gobi Partners vice president Victor Chua and Darren Chua from Singapore. Victor joined Gobi in 2015 and was on Forbes’ 30 under 30 Asia list 2017: Finance and Venture Capital.The Malaysian VC, with plans to raise a maiden fund of US$40 million, will focus on financing collaborations among large corporates, SMEs and innovative startups in the ASEAN region including Myanmar. It will invest in 15 to 30 companies. with seed funds ranging from US$300,000 to US$500,000 and Series A of US$1 million.

The Mirae Asset Financial Group started in 1997 with Mirae Asset Global Investment and Mirae Asset Capital. The group's business interests focus on asset and wealth management, investments, and insurance. It has also invested in a range of companies, from logistics firm Shadowfax to AmazeVR. In 2018, it established a joint venture with Naver Corporation, one of South Korea's leading tech companies, and set up the Asia Growth Fund with $940m committed to VC investing in the region. The joint venture has backed Southeast Asian ride-hailing giant Grab, Indonesian e-commerce platform Bukalapak, and Singapore-based credit scoring firm FinAccel.

General Atlantic was founded in 1980 as the investment arm of Atlantic Philanthropies, and claims to be the pioneer in growth equity. The US-based company has presence all over the world, including in Indonesia, UK, China, Mexico, and Singapore. As of August 2019, it manages US$35b in assets from global investors. Some major companies that were part of GA's portfolio includes Facebook, Alibaba, Meituan, Saxo Bank, and SEA. Edtech startup Ruangguru is GA's second investment in Indonesia; the first is MAP Boga Adiperkasa, a major F&B and lifestyle conglomerate. 

Founded by the Ontario government and Ontario Teachers' Federation in 1990, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan is Canada's largest single-profession pension plan. Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario Teachers' also has investment offices in London, Singapore and Hong Kong. With C$204.7bn worth of assets under its management, Ontario Teachers' is responsible for the pensions of 329,000 working and retired teachers in Ontario. Its diverse global portfolio of assets generates a total-fund net return of 9.5% annually. A new investment department, Teachers’ Innovation Platform, was set up in 2019 to invest in late-stage ventures that deliver disruptive technologies.

Originally formed in 2014 as NSI Ventures, Openspace Ventures makes investments in technology companies based in Southeast Asia. Led by Shane Chesson and Hian Goh, Openspace Ventures used to be a part of Northstar Group, a private equity firm primarily invested in the financial services, retail, energy and telecom sectors. In 2018, Chesson and Goh took NSI Ventures independent and rebranded it as Openspace Ventures. They still maintain links with Northstar, with Northstar managing partner Patrick Goh becoming senior advisor to Openspace.

Via ID is a business incubator and investor with a presence in France, the US, Singapore, and Germany. Its focus is on startups that develop “new modes of mobility”, which includes businesses ranging from bike-sharing and ride-hailing to vehicle marketplaces, garage comparisons and last-mile deliveries. Besides helping startups grow their business through incubation and investment, Via ID also connects various businesses, from startups to corporates and VCs, to develop synergies. One of its initiatives is The Mobility Club, a “private club” for mobility companies and investors to interact and gain industry insights.

Eempat Kapital (EK) was established in 2011 by Pramadita (Riel) Tasmaya, who is also a co-founder of Muslimarket. The investment firm is also managed by team member Emilia Emil Abbas, the daughter of Dr Emil Abbas who also owns PT Ranji Karya Sakti, part of the Easco Holding conglomerate. Another team member is Aldi Harris, who was the general manager of the private family-owned Easco Holding.EK’s portfolio includes energy and oil companies, e-commerce Muslimarket, concert information website Sindhen and food chains, Chicken Run and Arasseo. EK also raises finance for startups and provides management services as needed.

Next Chance Invest SL is part of the family firm Next Chance Group that was founded in 2010 by Nicolás Luca de Tena, a well-known Spanish entrepreneur and angel investor. Based in Madrid, the firm invested in the city's Spanish food delivery company La Nevera Roja in 2013. The "Red Fridge", acquired by Rocket Internet for €80m in 2016, was later sold on to Just Eat a year later. Next Chance normally invests between €500,000 and €2m on the scaling tech startups with annual turnover of over €2m. 

Founded in 2018, Kale United is a Stockholm-based ethical investor with an overriding interest in plant-based technologies. It raises funds from crowd campaigns and currently has a portfolio of 30 companies, mostly Swedish alternative meat startups. It had crowdfunded €1.34m by April 2020 for its portfolio of companies from three separate campaigns. It also has a portfolio of plant-based public shares and features a team of vegan expert investors and business leaders. Its founder, Måns Ullerstam, owns a third of the company. He is also CEO of local vegetarian food producer startup Astrid och Aporna.

Orkla ASA is an Oslo-based supplier of branded consumer products to major markets in the Nordic and Baltic regions and Central Europe. Selected product categories are also available in India, known as MTR Foods brand. Popular brands include Felix, Toro, Panda and Abba.Originally founded in 1654, Orkla is one of Norway’s oldest business conglomerates and became public-listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange (ORKLY) in 1929. Orkla Foods accounts for 39% of the group’s operating revenues. Two other subsidiaries, Orkla Care and Orkla Food Ingredients generate about 43% of the group’s operating revenues. The Orkla Confectionery & Snacks division contributes about 15%.

Not-for-profit social impact investor, Rabo Foundation, is a subsidiary of Rabobank based in the Netherlands. The bank specializes in sustainability-oriented banking, food and agriculture financing.Founded in Utrecht in 1974, Rabo Foundation actively invests in the Netherlands and 22 emerging markets across Africa, Asia and Latin America. It mainly focuses on funding for social enterprises, especially savings and credit cooperatives and producer organizations for smallholder farmers. It currently has investments in 26 startups including participation in AgroCenta’s $790,000 seed round in January 2021. Rabo has also pumped in $500,000 in Dutch fintech Geldfit.nl, a debt prevention and counseling app service.

Mitchell Presser is a New York-based lawyer. He is currently co-chair of global law service Morrison & Foerster’s Global Corporate Department and a partner in the firm’s M&A and Private Equity group, advising on agriculture, amongst other areas. He previously was a founding partner of Paine Schwartz, a US-based $1.2 bn private equity firm specializing in sustainable food chain investing from 2006 to 2014. His sole disclosed angel investment to date was an undisclosed sum in the pre-seed funding of NovoNutrients, the US-based biotech producer of alt-protein from fermentation using CO2 and other emissions,
