Another “haigui” (Chinese overseas returnee), Ben Luk (or Lu Yunsheng) had worked at Microsoft and Oracle before joining Google in 2003. At Google, he held different positions in the US global headquarters, and the Beijing and HK offices. Luk led the development of Google Maps APAC. He holds a BS in Computer Science, Cornell University; and an MS in Computer Engineering, Stanford University. 

Delta Purna Widyangga graduated in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore. Specializing in computer engineering, he has worked as a software engineer at Accenture Technology Solutions and became a consultant with ecenta AG, a company specializing in SAP product consultancy.In 2011, Delta co-founded digital agency 1.618 in Singapore, exiting the startup in 2017. He also became co-CTO of Qiscus in 2013 to manage the enterprise side of the business, while CTO Evan Purnama focused on product development. In 2015, Delta became the CEO after co-founder Amin Nordin left Qiscus.

Marc Coloma is the co-founder and CEO of Spanish plant-based meat startup, Foods for Tomorrow, where he has worked since 2017.  Earlier, he spent two years at the local government business promotion organization Barcelona Activa's Entrepreneur's With Ideas training program, where Food for Tomorrow’s business and Heura foods product ideas were conceived. Coloma's background includes stints at a Catalonian animal charity and Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in project work and fundraising respectively, and as COO of a catering company. A committed vegan and environmentalist, Coloma was named on Forbes list of 100 Most Creative People in Business in July 2019.

Squirrel AI Chief Scientist and co-founder Cui Wei received his PhD in 2012 from University College Dublin, Ireland, where he conducted research on artificial intelligence and its application to ultra-high frequency trading. Upon graduation, he joined web-based learning system provider Realizeit (DBA of CCKF) in Ireland, where he applied AI to adaptive education. Prior to co-founding Squirrel AI in 2016, he had founded Ireland’s first Chinese-language online shopping platform, which served 80% of the Chinese population in Ireland. 

500 Startups is a global venture capital seed fund and startup accelerator based in Silicon Valley.

BDMI is a New York-based VC company that is part of the global media group, Bertelsmann, which backs mainly companies in the new digital media ecosystem. The company usually invests through Series A and Series B rounds ranging from US$500,000 to US$5 million with reserves for follow-ons.Companies backed by BDMI get access to a vast network of media companies in the Bertelsmann group and benefit from their extensive media expertise with a global perspective.The firm’s portfolio includes startups from North America, Europe and Israel.

Co-founder of investment and consultancy firm SYSTEMIQ Jeremy Oppenheim invests individually in early-stage cleantech and agritech ventures. He used to be a senior partner at global consultancy McKinsey, where he worked extensively with multilateral development banks, the United Nations and developing nations' governments to set up resource-sustainability projects. From 2013-14, Oppenheim was the program director of the New Climate Economy project, an initiative of the Global Commission on Economy and Climate that identified practical actions and policy options to maximize opportunities associated with climate change. The experience helped propel him into cleantech and agtech investing.

San Francisco-based BOND is a spinoff of Kleiner Perkins and its original digital growth fund. BOND was launched in 2019, investing across market segments and geographies. To date, it has raised two funds totaling $3.3bn and currently has 32 portfolio companies. Its recent investments include Portuguese home physiotherapy tech SWORD, the world’s fastest-growing musculoskeletal solution, in June 2021 in a $85m Series C funding round; and co-leading the July 2021 $50m Series B round of US fungi-based alt-protein startup Meati Foods. 

Capricorn Investment Group is one of the world’s largest mission-aligned investment companies, managing more than $6bn in multi-asset class portfolios for families, foundations and institutional investors.  Notably, it manages the investment portfolio of Jeff Skoll, the first President of eBay, and his charitable organization. The company has offices in Silicon Valley and New York. It has invested in 63 companies to date, many aimed at tackling key challenges facing our world today. It has managed 14 exits to date, including Tesla. Its main focus is on technology and sustainability, with a particular interest in deeptech, aerospace, transport, agtech, healthcare and energy. The firm’s most recent disclosed investments were in May 2021, via participation in the $100m Series B round of Canadian quantum computing startup Xanadu and the $28m Series B round of US geothermal tech company Fervo Energy.

David Katz is the Canadian co-founder, president and CEO of Plastic Bank, a-first-of-a-kind social enterprise startup that monetizes plastic waste collection for some of the world’s poorest communities. Katz was inspired by a university seminar about recycling plastic waste in 2013 and founded Plastic Bank with CTO and brand strategist Shaun Frankson in Vancouver.In 2019, he became a fellow for the Unreasonable Group’s Impact Hub in Vancouver, an organization that supports social and environmental entrepreneurship. In 2011, he also founded Vancouver’s Core Values Institute, a consulting and global thought leadership platform for entrepreneurs.In 2014, he was also president of Vancouver’s chapter of the Entrepreneurs Organization for one year. He was named Global Citizen of the Year in 2014 by the international organization that has a network of over 10,000 business owners in 131 chapters across 40 countries. He also won the 2017 UN Lighthouse award for Planetary Health and Plastic Bank received the Paris COP21 Climate Conference Sustania Community Award in 2015.Katz completed a diploma in Hospitality Administration & Management at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1991 and started his own business in 1992 as founder and CEO of Nero Alarms. From 2005 to 2014, Katz worked full-time as the founder and president of Nero Global Tracking, a SaaS platform created to monitor the operations of mobile service vehicles. Nero SaaS is used in many Canadian cities and by the nation’s Defence Ministry. The company is now part of Vecima Networks Inc.

Dimas Surya Yaputra created an online auction website Swinde in 2009, while reading a degree in Global Corporate Finance at Universitas Pelita Harapan in Indonesia. Unfortunately, he had to close down Swinde a year later. After graduating in 2011, he joined forces with Wenas Agusetiawan at Tiket.com, Bouncity Network and WayangForce. They later exited Bouncity and WayangForce to focus on scaling up Tiket.com, with Dimas as the Chief Commercial Officer.

Andrea Halfpap is a co-founder and design director of Gestoos, a gesture recognition startup. She had been part of the UX teams at Vodafone Global, Claro Partners and Carmeq GmbH, building her expertise around visual and interactive design for mobile and web applications.Halfpap graduated from the Cologne International School of Design and specialized in Visual Communication and Research at the University of Western Sydney. 

Giovanni Umboh has been a software engineer since 2014, specializing in Java, working first at software development company Indocyber Global Technology and then at Emerio, a subsidiary of Japanese telecommunications giant NTT. Giovanni left Emerio in 2017 to join equity crowdfunding startup Bizhare, where he is CTO. He is also concurrently a software engineer at Blanja.com. Giovanni holds a diploma in Informatics Management from Bina Sarana Informatika, Indonesia.

Mitchell Presser is a New York-based lawyer. He is currently co-chair of global law service Morrison & Foerster’s Global Corporate Department and a partner in the firm’s M&A and Private Equity group, advising on agriculture, amongst other areas. He previously was a founding partner of Paine Schwartz, a US-based $1.2 bn private equity firm specializing in sustainable food chain investing from 2006 to 2014. His sole disclosed angel investment to date was an undisclosed sum in the pre-seed funding of NovoNutrients, the US-based biotech producer of alt-protein from fermentation using CO2 and other emissions, 

Cai received a degree in engineering from Université de Technologie de Troyes in 2011. In 2012, he obtained a master's degree in Project Management from Essec Business School Paris and a Master of Sciences from Telecom ParisTech. Cai then worked at Microsoft France for a year. In 2013, he co-founded DreamStorm, which helped like-minded people start businesses, which was acquired by EFactor at a valuation of US$6.5m in 2014. Cai then became a partner at Gewara, a movie ticket booking startup. He left the company after it was acquired by Weiying Times in 2016. In 2017, Cai founded Makaron and has acted as CEO ever since.
