After earning his MBA at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Zhang worked as an advisor at American Management Systems, an IT consulting firm based in the US. In 2003, he founded Dianping.com, one of China’s biggest online lifestyle services providers, and served as CEO and chairman until 2015. After Dianping.com merged with group-buying giant Meituan in 2015, Zhang became chairman of Meituan-Dianping.

LocalGlobe is one of the most active VC firms in the UK. Founded by father and son Robin and Saul Klein in 1999 and focused on seed and early-stage fundings, the firm has undertaken over 200 investments to date.In 2019, LocalGlobe aims to launch a new sister fund called Latitude to help startups in their investment portfolio, to scale up and to continue after seed through later funding rounds. LocalGlobe has managed 28 exits to date including Graze, Bitly and Zoopla. Its recent investments include in Zencargo and Weengs' Series A rounds and in VOI Technology's Series B round.

LEVO Capital is a US venture capital firm that focuses on seed investment for utility-based tech companies. Founded by real estate entrepreneur Weston Marcum, the VC has exited digital wallet fintech Evenly that was sold to Square.Based in his birthplace Louisville in Kentucky, Marcum built a successful real estate investment and management company Atlas Properties that later became the Atlas group of companies. The Furman University business graduate began investing in SMEs and tech startups through Levo Capital in 2011. Many of Levo's ventures, including downtown cafes, are also tenants in buildings owned by Marcum's Atlas group.

Nickleby Capital is a London-based VC firm that focuses on three main areas: (1) investment capital for companies in the scale-up phase, Series A, Series B, and buyouts, (2) advisory services leveraging proprietary tech, researches and industry network, to accelerate PLCs and private companies' growth, and (3) real estate, advising on commercial and residential properties globally. The firm’s investors are mostly family offices and serial entrepreneurs that have built market-leading companies. The Nickleby Capital’s team is founded by a team of alumni from Goldman Sachs, Rothschild, BDO and Korn Ferry.

Mitchell Presser is a New York-based lawyer. He is currently co-chair of global law service Morrison & Foerster’s Global Corporate Department and a partner in the firm’s M&A and Private Equity group, advising on agriculture, amongst other areas. He previously was a founding partner of Paine Schwartz, a US-based $1.2 bn private equity firm specializing in sustainable food chain investing from 2006 to 2014. His sole disclosed angel investment to date was an undisclosed sum in the pre-seed funding of NovoNutrients, the US-based biotech producer of alt-protein from fermentation using CO2 and other emissions, 

Based in San Francisco, Slow Ventures was founded in 2011 by an early Facebook employee David Morin, who helped to build the Facebook Platform and Facebook Connect. Slow Ventures is no longer known as the “Facebook Alumni Fund”.Today, the VC is a generalist fund, investing in diverse sectors worldwide, ranging from digital health to enterprise solutions. The firm has backed unicorn startups in the US like Postmates, Nextdoor, AngelList and Evernote. A fourth fundraising round has been launched for two new funds totaling $220m: seed funding of $165m and $55m for a follow-up round. Its last funding round closed at $145m in 2016.

Founded in Boston in 2019, Transformation is entirely dedicated to healthcare disruption, predominently focuses on US investments and typically invests $10-30m per startup. It currently has 22 companies in its portfolio.  Its most recent investments include in the June 2021 $85m Series C round of Portuguese home physiotherapy tech solution SWORD Health, the world’s fastest-growing musculoskeletal solution, and, the same month, in the $21m Series D round of Protenus, the US’ leading healthcare compliance analytics firm.

Established in 1995 by Sean O'Sullivan, SOSV is a venture capital firm with six attached accelerator programs. Upon receiving investment from SOSV, portfolio companies join one of the accelerator programs that best suits their products. The accelerators are: Chinaccelerator, focused on the Chinese market; Indie Bio, supporting biotechnology and life sciences companies; Food-X, for food-tech and agriculture-focused companies; dlab, which supports startups exploring blockchain and decentralized tech; HAX, for IoT, robotics and other hardware-focused startups; and MOX, an accelerator specializing in mobile platforms and technologies. SOSV, along with the O'Sullivan Foundation, has also provided support for education initiatives such as Khan Academy and CoderDojo (which teaches coding skills to youth).

Lupa Systems is a private investment company with offices in New York and Mumbai. It was founded in 2019 by Rupert Murdoch’s son James Murdoch with $2bn funding from the overall $71bn sales of the family's 21st Century Fox empire to Disney.Lupa focuses on tech companies in the media industry, as well as impact-driven startups focused on environmental sustainability and emerging markets, particularly in Asia. According to a recent report, Lupa is looking to launch new funds, raising about $150m for each fund from family offices in India. The firm has invested in about 12 companies to date.

Known as one of the “big four” VC firms investing in early and growth stages in London, Europe-focused Balderton Capital was one of the early backers of today’s unicorns such as Revolut, Yoox, MySQL, CityMapper and Betfair. To date, Balderton Capital has made over 250 investments since its founding in 2000 and raised over $4bn across nine funds to date. In 2018, it launched the first fund to acquire equity from existing shareholders in European startups. The firm also focuses on Series A investments through its $400m fund Balderton VII launched in 2019. In June 2021, Balderton Capital launched its first growth fund with $680m under management.   

Established in 1977, Matrix Partners is an American venture capital firm with offices in San Francisco and Cambridge in the US, as well as in Shanghai, Beijing, Mumbai and Bangalore, and has invested in prominent companies like Apple and FedEx. It participates in all stages of investment and, to date, has invested over US$4 billion and has over US$4 billion currently under management. The company has invested in more than 500 companies and was lead investor in over 150. It has seen more than 100 exits. Recent investments include US$11 million in Brightback Series A and in Klook's Series D.

Miguel Arias received an MSc in Civil Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in 2002 and an MBA from IE Business School in 2005. He has served as global entrepreneurship director at Telefónica since 2018.Arias began his career as an engineer. In 2003, he founded IMASTE (since acquired by US communications firm ON24), a virtual events startup, where he served as CTO for nine years.Arias is an active angel investor in the Spanish tech ecosystem. He co-founded Chamberí Valley, which promotes networking initiatives among tech entrepreneurs, and mentors at programs such as the IE Venture Lab and Wayra Academy.

Scott Banister is a prolific Silicon Valley-based angel investor. From 2000–2007, he was CTO and co-founder at IronPort, an enterprise email routing and anti-spam solutions provider that was acquired by Cisco Systems for $830m. He has invested in more than 100 companies to date and managed numerous exits, including Uber. His most recent undisclosed amounts of investments include participating in the $150m investment round of US investment analytics firm Forge Global in May 2021, as well as the April 2021 $35m funding round of US video streaming server Plex.

Accel, formerly known as Accel Partners, is a US venture capital firm,  with its headquarters in Palo Alto, California, and additional offices in San Francisco. It also operates funds for Europe and Israel, with offices in London, UK, and has funds for India and China. It was founded in 1983 and has backed some of the most successful startups including Facebook, Spotify and Dropbox, among hundreds of others.  It typically invests at the Series A and B levels, but can get involved from seed level, and has seen 253 exits from its portfolio to date, across varied market segments.

Global technology investment firm Atomico was set up in 2006 by Skype co-founder Niklas Zennström. Since then, it has made over 140 investments with a focus on the European market. Atomico’s team of investors includes founders of six billion-dollar companies, and operational leaders at companies such as Skype, Google, Uber, Facebook and Spotify. The London-based investment company has managed 27 exits to date including Supercell, Fab, the Climate Corporation and Rovio Entertainment. Its recent investments include in Peakon's Series B, AccuRx's Series A and in Graphcore and Clutter's Series D rounds.
