He went on to receive training for nuclear engineering and submarine officer roles in the US Navy, serving on the nuclear submarine USS Michigan for three years. He left the US Navy in 2013 to pursue an MBA at the University of California, Berkeley. Ahuja was briefly involved as a co-founder of payments gateway Xendit, but left the startup to join fintech company Affirm Inc in 2015.
